ALERTS!

Reference the ALERTS Page for additional detail on Weather, Road Work and Delays.

Update: September 9, 2024:

The Emergency Repair Project on Point Rd. near the Fish Commission Point Access on Point Rd was successfully completed. This was a repair that was needed to temporarily address a drop in a section of the roadway. Our aim was to ensure a safe roadway for this winter while we await approval for a grant application submitted this past spring. Fingers crossed!

The work on Point Road was superbly executed and completed by the Juniata Township Road Maintenance crew within 30-hour period. Please thank them for their efforts.

Continue to exercise caution and appropriate speed on this narrow section of roadway.

Future Projects:

The Township has additional road projects occurring though out July, August and into the Fall of 2024. Point Road, Riverview Heights, Stone Bridge, filling potholes and mowing berms on all Township roads. We are fortunate to have received funding from a Dirt and Gravel Grant and the Amusement Tax to not just maintain, but to actually plan and make improvements to our roads for the future. The irony is, the Amusement Tax produces more funding for the Township than the Real Estate Taxes collected from each property owner in Juniata Township.

At the September 10, 2024 Meeting the Board of Supervisors approved (2) bids. The first is for preliminary improvements to Riverview Heights and Stonebridge Rd. The second is for a road repair near Glenn Lane on Baker Hollow Rd. More details of the start of these projects will follow.

STAY SAFEPLEASE WATCH for “ROAD WORK” signs. Slowdown, stop and make sure you make “EYE CONTACT” with the Road Crew Operator before proceeding at 5 mph through the Active Work Area. The the sign says, “ROAD CLOSED” it is in fact, CLOSED. Avoid causing a safety problem.

Thank you!

December 2023 – Juniata Township was awarded a Dirt, Gravel and Low Volume Grant for $70,328.27 to address drainage issues on the first section of Corbins Road (from Awkerman Road to the top of the steep grade). Work to begin in the Spring of 2024.

The project has been successfully completed.
